The Meliá Trinidad Peninsula Hotel was officially inaugurated on the day that the third town founded in Cuba celebrates its 510th anniversary. The ceremony was attended by Manuel Marrero, Prime Minister of Cuba; Juan Carlos García, Minister of Tourism; and Gabriel Escarrer, President and CEO of Meliá Hotels International, along with other authorities and collaborators. In his opening remarks, President Gabriel Escarrer noted that “Meliá Trinidad Peninsula is part of the desire to provide those who visit Cuba with the opportunity to visit the most important vacation spots, but also historical and cultural sites in the country. With Trinidad, there are now four cities that constitute Cultural Heritage of Humanity in which we are present; Without a doubt, a special incentive for those who choose us as hosts and an opportunity that we wanted to take advantage of to bring the traveler closer to the very essences of what is Cuban.” For his part, the Minister of Tourism, Juan Carlos García Granda, referred to the Meliá Trinidad Peninsula as an unprecedented hotel in south-central Cuba, whose technological advances make it a leading facility in the Caribbean region. Juan Pereira, general director of the hotel, highlighted the importance of human capital in the experience that this hotel offers travelers. It is “a team in which youth, talent and the desire to do things prevail. The hospitality, kindness and joy of the Cuban people; but also the familiarity and wisdom of the Trinitarians constitute the very heart of this accommodation,” he expressed. On the beachfront, with wonderful views of the Escambray mountains, Meliá Trinidad Península offers 401 rooms, 14 restaurants and bars and The Level service, where guests over 18 years of age enjoy exclusive attention. In addition, it specializes in serving groups, conferences and incentives: it has a special reception area and 5 rooms that total 1,391 m2 and can accommodate more than 1,400 people. Sustainability and the support of local development policies have been key principles in the conception, design and implementation of the hotel.
