A new Habano for a Cuban market

The presentation of the regional edition of the Habano Diplomático Leal for the Cuban market was carried out with complete success, Yunier Machado Yera, director of the Internal Market of the mixed company Habanos S.A., told Granma. This event took place in the Cuban capital, in the presence of experts, representatives of hotel and non-hotel chains, from the company Cuba Ron S.A. and the tobacco company itself, which markets all Cuban tobacco products in the world, in more than 140 countries on all continents. Machado Yera pointed out that Diplomático Leal can be purchased exclusively in Cuba, in specialized stores, points of sale and Habano houses, starting December 15, and that it will have a limited and unique production of 10,000 numbered boxes, with their respective Protected Designation of Origin (D.O.P.) seal. It meant that this special cigar is made entirely by hand, with long filler, by expert rollers, and tobacco leaves specially harvested in the tobacco massif of the province of Pinar del Río. The manager explained that, since 2019, an exclusive edition for the Cuban market had not been presented, when the launch of the also famous Habano Punch Punch took place. "The COVID-19 pandemic prevented the marketing of the Habano Diplomático Leal in 2021, which we are now bringing to a successful conclusion," he added. He stated that the Habanos market has behaved in a stable manner, and that the main "stores have maintained their assortments of the appreciated Cuban tobacco." He highlighted that the company Habanos S.A. expects to exceed sales this year in the domestic market, with around 2.3 million units of tobacco, while mentioning, among the best-selling brands, Romeo y Julieta, Partagás and Cohiba, in that order. "By 2024, we plan to sell around three million units of tobacco in the Cuban market, which will represent income for the national economy of about 12 million dollars."
