Vietnamese donation brings 100 tonnes of rice to Cuba
At the headquarters of the Ministry of Domestic Trade, where the ceremony took place, the vice-president of the corporation – located within the Mariel Special Development Zone – highlighted the ties that unite the two peoples.
Quang Hung evoked the aid provided by Cuba to his country in the context of the US war, as well as the delivery of the Dong Hoi hospital and the sending of professionals from the Caribbean nation to study and help in fields such as construction and medicine.
The Cuban News Agency reported that specialists from the Asian nation studied and provided support on the Caribbean island for agricultural and construction programmes, among other sectors.
The vice-president of ViMariel S.A. referred to some of his country’s projects in Cuba, such as the one named SANVIG, of the Viglacera corporation, with two factories of ceramics and sanitary furniture in the municipalities of San José and Santa Cruz del Norte, in the province of Mayabeque.
“We face the same difficulties and challenges as any other company in the world and in Cuba in particular,” Quang Hung said, referring to the tightening of the US blockade against the Antillean nation almost six decades ago and the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.
However, he stressed that amid these complexities, the ViMariel S.A. industrial park infrastructure project continued to develop and is on schedule for completion within three months.
For her part, Grisel Avila Diaz, Vice Minister of Domestic Trade thanked for the donation that will have a direct impact on the Cuban population and will support the prevention and control plan of the Covid-19 pandemic.
It will also contribute to counteracting the negative effect caused by the 243 measures imposed by the US government in its criminal blockade, she stressed.
