Cuba’s renowned Havana Club brand of light rums won major awards at international competitions this month, a company statement said today.

These awards validate the company’s leadership among the best spirits products in the world, the statement said.

The company received six medals in The Rum & Cachaça Masters 2022, a competition organised by the British publication The Spirits Business.

This is the only international magazine and website dedicated to spirits as such.

The Masters title, the highest award given, went to Havana Club Selección de Maestros, followed by three Gold medals and two Silver medals for other products from the same company.

Other award winners included Havana Club Añejo 7 Años (Gold), Havana Club Añejo 3 Años (Gold), Havana Club Verde (Gold), Havana Club Añejo Especial (Silver) and Havana Club Especiado (Silver).

The Rum & Cachaça Masters aimed to find and reward the best rum and cachaça brands (product of Brazil) on the world stage. In a blind tasting, a panel of leading specialists judged the candidates to discover the Rum & Cachaça Masters of 2022.

Meanwhile, the PLD 2022 Innovation Awards focused on packaging, awarded by the prestigious Salon PLD Paris (France), presented the top prize in two categories to Havana Club.

The Mass Market Liqueur Award went to Havana Club Añejo 7 Años Botella Dorada, and the E-commerce Award went to Havana Club Party Pack.

The product is currently available on the online shop www.ronencasa.com (17 Euros). The party pack is not yet available in Cuba.

Presented in 2020, the PLD Innovation Awards recognise the world’s best packaging innovations in all types of premium and luxury beverages (in the last year), looking at what is dominant in packaging for the full range of beverages.

The award categories cover all aspects of the market and recognise achievements in technical innovation, sustainable development, decoration, and consumer experience, among other aspects.

The judges are a group of highly influential packaging managers from some of the industry’s best-known brand owners, along with internationally renowned design experts such as Coca-Cola, Havana Club, Remy Cointreau, Martell Mumm Perrier-Jouët and Moët Hennessy.

With these awards, Havana Club has won 344 medals since 1994, a brand in constant evolution, innovative and with proven levels of quality in its productions, the report concludes.

Havana Club International S.A. is a joint venture between Pernod Ricard of France and the local producer Cuba Ron, a partnership created in 1993 and with outstanding results in global markets.
