The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Valery Mitskevich met today with a delegation from the Mariel Special Development Zone (ZEDM) headed by its Director General Ana Teresa Igarza Martínez, a deputy to the National Assembly of People’s Power of the Republic of Cuba. Also present were Serguei Klishevich, President of the Parliamentary Group of Friendship with Cuba and other deputies members of this group. They were accompanied by the Cuban Ambassador to Belarus, Juan Valdés Figueroa.

After discussing the potential of the ZEDM for future Belarusian investments in Cuba, Valery Mitskevich said: “I paid an official visit to Cuba. We met with the leadership of the parliament, the government, including the Mariel Special Development Zone. Today, their director general visited us and I can say that we have very good political contacts and parliamentary contacts are developing steadily. Of course, the basis of everything is the economy. And we must increase economic ties, mutual deliveries of goods, increase production. Today we are talking about it,” said Valery Mitskevich.
